plus several recolors.

I have spent massive amounts of time playtesting this set. I tested each object individually, and hammered out all the kinks. As far as I've seen, there are no glitches and everything works exactly as it should as far as slave textures, joint alignment, placement, etc. please feel free to report any issues.

A few notes about the project: Series 4 is a bit of a misnomer. Prior to this set, I've only made two other modular furniture sets. But as it complements the Cargo Bay Series 4 set, it seemed incongruent to name it Series 3. Unless otherwise noted, objects are base-game (See more specific descriptions below).

The focus of this set is to create realistic crew quarters, kitchens, bridges, etc. The furniture is designed to be stacked together, giving your observation lounges, conference rooms, and wardrooms a built-in look, for more realistic sets and backdrops. As I am more of a storyteller/ dollhouser than an actual player, my main focus was on how good the objects look in-game, but they have been thoroughly playtested and work well for players who focus on gameplay, too.

Most of the furniture for the observation lounge set is designed to stack together to build giant wall cabinets. The tables, the short display case, and the 2x1 wall console are stand-alone.

Please read carefully: The single bed from the crew quarters set, Desk A from the ready room set, and the consoles and panels from Bridge Set 1 provide some of the master textures for this set. As the repository technique is used, I have included the repository objects so you don't get flashing blue textures in your game. To keep the size of the file reasonable, THE RECOLORS FOR THESE THREE OBJECTS AREN'T INCLUDED. They can be downloaded from the RECOLORS THREAD.

Note: all files have been Compressorized.

Intrepid-Type Table

A long table, as seen in Voyager's conference room. The slots have been moved to the correct locations. Because of its unusual shape, plates placed in some of the eat slots tend to float, so it's not recommended as a dining room table.

Details:
Price:§1500
Polys: 516
Recolorable subsets: Base and panel
Egghead stuff: It works like a 2x4 table.
• The panel subset is slaved to the 5-tile, 5-panel console from Bridge Set 1, included.

Galaxy-Type Table

A 2x6 table, split into halves. The slot on each end (where the captain would sit) is centered; those without Mansions and Gardens may have to use the boolprop snapObjectsToGrid cheat to position the head chair correctly.

Details:
Price: §800/half
Polys: 270/half
Recolorable subsets: Base and multipanel
Egghead stuff: The slots are a bit weird; you can't place a plate in the eat slots at the ends of the table. Not recommended as a dining table.
•The multipanel subset is slaved to Ready Room Desk A (3x1), included.

DS9-Type Wardroom Table

A long table, the kind seen in DS9's wardroom. The end workd like a 2x2 dining table and the center like a 2x6 table.

Details:
Price: End §800, Center §1200
Polys: End 142, Center 196
Recolorable subsets: Base and ultipanel
Egghead stuff: The multipanel subset is slaved to Ready Room Desk A (3x1), included.

Observation Lounge Cabinets

A full set of cabinets, designed to be stacked together seamlessly. The regular cabinets have two slots for deco objects; the full height cabinets have three. Cloned from the Le Morvan Kitchen Set by Moune.

Details:
Price: §300
Polys: Center and 3-tile 102, left and right 398, center tall 78, left and right tall 282
Recolorable subsets: Base and panel
Egghead stuff: They're just regular cabinets, designed to hold deco objects. The 3-tile cabinet's slots are oriented horizontally; the deco objects must be placed in the footprint to snap into the slots.

Cabinet Diplays and Base

3-tile deco objects that complete the look of the cabinet.

Details:
Price: Display §600, Base §400
Polys: Large display 64, Small display 180, Base 32
Recolorable subsets: Base and panels
Egghead stuff: These are place-anywhere deco objects.
• The large display's panel material is slaved to the 3-panel display from Bridge Set 1. The base is slaved to the backplate from Bridge Set 1. The master objects are included.
• The small display's panel material is the master for the 2x1 wall console, below.

Operations Console

A small console that can be placed against the center of the cabinet.

Details:
Price: §600
Polys: 38
Recolorable subsets: Base and panel
Egghead stuff: It works like most other consoles. Sims can program a crew roster (logic skilling) or debrief the crew (charisma skilling).
•The panel material is slaved to the 5-panel console from Bridge Set 1 (included)

2x1 Display Case

A stand-alone, shorter display case, that holds deco objects. The plain headers from Bridge Set 2 work perfectly to make it a full-sized case.

Details:
Price: $400
Polys: 754
Recolorable subsets: Base and panel
Egghead stuff: It's just a regular display case.
•The panel material is slaved to the backplate from Bridge Set 1 (included).

2x1 Wall Console

Designed to fit in a recess so that it's flush with the wall. Sims can use it to debrief the crew (charisma skilling).

Details:
Price: §1000
Polys: 236
Recolorable subsets: Base and panel
Egghead stuff: The panel material is slaved to the small display (above).

Display Case Models

Models to fill up all those display cases. 23 starship types and 9 starbases and stations.

Details:
Price: §200
Polys: Varies. Between 1000-6000. All should be considered high-poly models.
Recolorable subsets: Finish
Egghead stuff: The Sovereign-class starship is the master object for this set; recolors must be extracted from that object.

Here's a few images of the bridges I put together using these objects (some of the objects are from other object sets):

  1. Talk about being late to the party, but somehow I didn't find this until now. What a great set! Those little starship models, I love them! I foresee quite a few of my Starfleet captains and admirals getting new display cases for their offices... ;)

  2. No worries. I'm just glad of the feedback, and I hope you enjoy them. I really liked how this set came out, and I wish I could motivate to create a few new modular sets.

  5. Hi J!
I just wanted to come out of hiding after stumbling into this site. I thought that when Boldy Going closed, you disappeared. So imagine my surprise when I found you through Nix's link! How absolute wonderful! I knew you were posting as Ocelotekatl, but I did not realise that your Sci-fi were has not only grown, but your talent and skills are impressive. You've really grown as a creator and I love to think "I knew you back when". Ha ha! Kidding, I've always felt that you've had massive talent and I love to see you thriving.

I thought I posted a few days ago, but my computer had been acting a bit strange prior to my updating. I just wanted to say thanks for the Build set (especially the columns). They are awesome and perfect for one of my personal projects. I am inspired by your creativity my friend and just want to send a little love your way! Chat you again soon! :)

    1. Hey again! I've been around, doing this and that, since SimTrek closed. I've hung out at MYB, PlumbBobSims, Leefish, and more recently at PBK, but mostly just stick to myself and post to my blogs. I'm not really much of a joiner. I'm glad you found me, and I'm glad the modular build set is what you need for your upcoming lot. Fire me a link when you're done with it; I'd love to see it.

  6. I will definitely send you a link when I get to that point.

These days, I find that not being a joiner is the best remedy for creative block. Since David and I are no longer at PBK and things are finally settling down on the homefront, I have decided to redefine how I Sim and spend a little more time playing the game and just enjoying places in the community that have a positive, uplifting energy...but in small doses.

I'm doing a bit of multi-tasking before I isolate myself for long overdue game play. At the moment,I am in the process of preparing a small Sim site, just to give my creations an independent landing pad and to have a place to share random things when and if the mood strikes me.

I've also been Sim globe trotting lately, collecting things for a hood I'm creating for personal play. It was neat exploring your site and downloading a few of your newer sets. I'm pacing myself with downloading (since I am moving away from limiting my creations to one category, as well as away from collecting). I want to enjoy the creations I already have for a while. The irony of course, is that I am stepping back from medieval things, just as you are creating a few more more! :)

After visiting your site a few days ago, I was inspired by one of your objects and found myself wondering today about seeking your help in creating a simple 3D object. Can you take a request from me? Looking at your Ready Room set in game, I realized that maybe you can save me from not being able to find the right fireplace for my new Sim pad.

I want to replicate the fireplace from the TV show "Frasier", but I need a smooth quarter round decorative object to place behind a fireplace I already have. Check out the fire place in the following image to get a glimpse of what I mean:

    http://cdn.playbuzz.com/cdn/1701e117-076d-4378-91bc-fbfa095eaf8d/e5ed0914-de63-43f5-8ca3-e769d47a48f7.jpg

Basically, it would be a 3D quarter arch that is recolorable, fireproof, 4 tiles wide, 3/4 a wall tall (shorter than in the image) and about half a tile in depth. I know you are busy with RL and your own current projects, but can you add this object to your list for me? If not, not a problem, but I came on-line just to see if you could squeeze it in. :)
