I have spent massive amounts of time playtesting this set. I tested each object individually, and hammered out all the kinks. As far as I've seen, there are no glitches and everything works exactly as it should as far as slave textures, joint alignment, placement, etc. Please feel free to report any issues.

A few notes about the project: Series 4 is a bit of a misnomer. Prior to this set, I've only made two other modular furniture sets. But as it complements the Cargo Bay Series 4 set, it seemed incongruent to name it Series 3. Unless otherwise noted, objects are base-game (See more specific descriptions below).

The focus of this set is to create realistic biology and earth science labs for starships and starbases. The furniture is designed to be stacked together, giving your science labs a built-in look, for more realistic sets and backdrops. This set can, as always, be mixed and matched with any other sets from Modular Furniture Series 4. As I am more of a storyteller/ dollhouser than an actual player, my main focus was on how good the objects look in-game, but they have been thoroughly playtested and work well for players who focus on gameplay, too.

Please read carefully: The single bed base the crew quarters set and the console, panel, and runner from Bridge Set 1 provide the master textures for this set. As the repository technique is used, I have included the repository objects so you don't get flashing blue textures in your game. To keep the size of the file reasonable, THE RECOLORS FOR THESE OBJECTS AREN'T INCLUDED. They can be downloaded from the RECOLORS THREAD.

Note: all files have been Compressorized.

Mammal and Reptile Cages

All the cages use the same mesh, but each spawns a unique pet (14 different pets). I asked Phaenoh over at MTS for permission to make a custom cage using her awesome tribble pet, and she gave me the green light. I tried to reach out to Klinny and bienchen83 as well, but they haven't been around in a while.

Please note: The cages that spawn custom pets won't work properly if you don't also download the pets. I've included links below, bu if you don't already have the pets, please download them from the original creators' threads.

Minor detail: The pets tend to clip a bit outside the glass. I compared this to the original Maxis cage, and the same clipping exists in the original object. There isn't really a fix.

Phaenoh: Tribble
Klinny: One-Eyed Plant Creature (Klinny's other pets were too big for the cage)
bienchen83: Lizards and Rodents (I recommend the no-wake version)

Details:
Price: §500
Polys: 3328 (a bit on the high side)
Recolorable subsets: Base and panel
Egghead stuff: They work like Maxis pet cages

Animal Habitat Headers

Decorative headers that can be places in the same tile as the pet cages, above.

Details:
Price: §200 Lit, §150 Unlit
Polys: Lit 144, Unlit 132
Recolorable subsets: Base
Egghead stuff: These are place-anywhere deco objects. They can be stacked on other objects without using cheats

Aviary

These are cloned from the Maxis bird cage. One spawns the Maxis birdie and the other spawns Klinny's mini-dragon. Both objects have the same mesh.

Please note: The cages that spawn custom pets won't work properly if you don't also download the pets. I've included links below, bu if you don't already have the pets, please download them from the original creators' threads.

Klinny: Mini-Dragon

Details:
Price: §1000
Polys: 1406
Recolorable subsets: Base
Egghead stuff: These work like the Maxis birdcage.

Lab Shelves

Fairly standard shelves. They work in conjunction with the skilling objects, below.

Details:
Price: §500 2-tier, §300 1-tier
Polys: 460 2-tier, 260 1-tier
Recolorable subsets: Base
Egghead stuff: They work like shelves. The 2-tier shelf has two slots and the 1-tier shelf has 1 slot.

Hydroponics Lab Monitors

A skilling object. By observing the plants, sims gain skill at gardening (the gardening badges) and by talking to the plants, the sims gain charisma. Simply place the monitor in on the same tile as the shelf, place your favorite deco plants on the shelf, and presto! instant hydroponics lab.

Details:
Price: §400 2-tier, §200 1-tier
Polys: 56 2-tier, 28 1-tier
Recolorable subsets: Base and panel
Egghead stuff: It has a place-anywhere BHAV and can be placed on top of other objects without using cheats, but it's specifically designed to be used with the shelves.

Science Lab Microscope

A microscope sims can use to gain logic. Cloned from katy76's microscope.

Details:
Price: $700
Polys: 936
Recolorable subsets: Base and panel
Egghead stuff: It's placed on a table, a lot like a computer. Sims can use it to gain logic points.

Advanced Spectroscopic Analyzer

A place-anywhere skilling object. Sims can use it to gain logic points.Just place the analyzer on the same tile as the 1-tier shelf, place your favorite rock or crystal on the shelf, and presto! instant geology lab.

Details:
Price: $1000
Polys: 468
Recolorable subsets: Base and panel
Egghead stuff: It's a place-anywhere object designed to be used with the 1-tier shelf. Each interaction plays a different beam texture and special effect. Huge thanks are due to NixNivis for helping me figure out the BHAVs.

Here are a few pics of a lab I put together using elements from this set (note: some of the objects are from other sets in this series):

    1. I honestly don't use this set much, except as a backdrop. I just thought at the time it would be cool to have more variety than the typical womrats and birds. Phaenoh's tribbles are the best!
